Need help with drinking?

You don’t have to fix anything today.

You may already know why you are here. The argument may have been going on privately for a long time.

New to AA in Dumaguete

The first meeting begins before you enter the room.

People study the map, look online, walk past the venue, return to the website, and wait for a day when walking inside feels possible.

That is not unusual. Familiarity reduces part of the fear. You can arrive early, choose a chair anywhere, and listen until the room becomes familiar.

You do not owe anyone a prepared story. You do not need the right words.

In Valencia, you walk into Rhed Flower Restobar at street level and sit around tables inside. At Bethel Guest House, take the elevator to the fifth floor and step out onto the balcony overlooking Rizal Boulevard. The Thursday meeting at Uzi Beach Resort is literally on the beach, with plastic tables and chairs close to the water. Saturday Live is at a private waterfront home in Bacong: look for the AA sign on the chain-link gate, walk in, and the meeting table is under a covered area beside the sea. Coffee, Milo, popcorn, and sliced watermelon are usually on the table. The Sunday evening meeting is at Holy Family Formation Center in the St. Augustine of Hippo Parish compound in Bacong. Its schedule and venue come from public AA meeting posts; firsthand notes about the room and what the meeting is like are not available yet.
