2026 — Dumaguete AA Meetings Website Identity

Date: June–July 2026

Topic: Website identity, newcomer guidance, local AA information, and historical preservation.

During the 2026 redevelopment, the website adopted the public title Dumaguete AA Meetings – Independent. Unofficial. Helpful. The identity reflects more than a decade of local AA meeting information, newcomer guidance, visitor resources, convention information, and historical material connected with Alcoholics Anonymous in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental.

The phrase Independent. Unofficial. Helpful. explains the website’s purpose. It is an independent local information resource created to help people find AA meetings, understand what to expect, and preserve the documented history of Alcoholics Anonymous in Dumaguete. It is not an official AA website. It exists to be helpful.

The identity also reflects the site’s editorial standard: tell the truth, offer hope, and leave the reader with one simple action they can take today. The history of the website naturally reflects years of recovery, service, and preservation, but the focus remains on the newcomer who has not yet walked through the door.

2026 — Proposed Commemorative Visitor Medallion

Date: July 2026

Topic: Proposed independent Dumaguete visitor souvenir.

During the 2026 redevelopment of DumagueteAA.org, a proposal emerged to create a small commemorative medallion as a complimentary souvenir for people visiting Dumaguete during January 2027. The idea grew naturally from the website’s newcomer-first philosophy and its continuing effort to document the history of local AA information in Dumaguete.

The concept was intentionally designed as an independent Dumaguete keepsake rather than convention merchandise or an official commemorative. It celebrates the city, welcomes visitors, and quietly marks more than ten years of local information preserved through DumagueteAA.org.

The obverse adopts the commemorative website identity introduced during the 2026 redevelopment. The reverse carries a simple welcome together with three words that gradually became the editorial philosophy behind the website: Reality. Hope. Action.

The proposed obverse features Dumaguete’s Rizal Boulevard, the seaside gazebo, Mt. Talinis, and the inscription 10+ Since 2015, commemorating local AA information since 2015 in Dumaguete.

Proposed Reverse

The proposed reverse welcomes visitors to Dumaguete and features Reality. Hope. Action. with the inscription January 2027, reflecting the city’s welcoming spirit and the editorial philosophy of DumagueteAA.org.

The proposed medallion remains a design study and has not entered production. If produced, it would be offered as a complimentary Dumaguete visitor souvenir and preserved as part of the continuing historical record of DumagueteAA.org.

Why This History Page Exists

DumagueteAA.org has served as a local information resource for Alcoholics Anonymous meeting information, newcomer guidance, visitor information, and convention-related updates in the Dumaguete area.

This page preserves known public references, historical URLs, original dates, meeting-location references, community-resource pages, convention-related pages, recovered websites, and first-hand evidence connected to Dumaguete AA history.

The project preserves verifiable records rather than reconstructing local AA history from memory alone.

The purpose is not to republish outdated meeting schedules as current information. The purpose is to preserve historical context while helping today’s visitors find current AA resources.

Earlier Dumaguete AA History Research

Research conducted in 2026 identified archived AA Philippines meeting-directory records documenting AA meeting activity in Dumaguete City and Valencia, Negros Oriental as early as September 29, 2013.

Research also identified an archived AA Philippines regional-sites page captured on August 8, 2013 that did not include a Dumaguete regional website listing. This does not indicate whether meetings existed locally at the time, but it provides useful context for understanding the development of Dumaguete’s online AA presence.

Additional research identified an earlier Google Sites resource at https://sites.google.com/site/aadumaguetemeetingschedule/. The site was titled “Dumaguete AA Meeting Schedule (allow calendar to load)” and included a subpage titled “2015 Meeting Schedule.” The structure indicates that local meeting information was likely being maintained through an embedded Google Calendar or Google Sheet rather than by repeatedly editing website pages.

This discovery matters because it documents an earlier locally maintained meeting-information system. It helps explain how AA meeting information in Dumaguete was distributed online before the current DumagueteAA.org preservation project, and why a simple historical Google Sites page could remain useful years after it was first created.

Additional historical research is ongoing to identify earlier meeting records, website references, regional AA connections, service history, and pre-2015 local recovery history.

DumagueteAA.org History and the History of AA in Dumaguete Are Not the Same

This project researches two related but different histories.

DumagueteAA.org history documents the development of websites, meeting schedules, Google Sites pages, directory listings, and other online resources connected with AA meeting information in Dumaguete.

The history of AA in Dumaguete seeks to determine when AA first came to Dumaguete, where early meetings were held, how local groups developed, and how service and outreach activities evolved over time.

Website records provide important clues, but they do not by themselves establish when AA first arrived in Dumaguete.

How This Record Is Organized

This page is organized by date, topic, URL, context, and historical significance.

What the Records Show

The surviving records show more than a list of old meeting pages. They show local AA information being kept visible through changing rooms, changing venues, public forum references, convention activity, rebuilt web pages, and earlier online tools.

By September 29, 2013, archived meeting-directory records document AA meeting activity in Dumaguete City and Valencia, Negros Oriental. By January 2015, public Dumaguete AA meeting information was being shared online. By 2015 and 2016, DumagueteAA.org was carrying meeting pages, newcomer-help pages, convention pages, contact resources, literature references, and community visibility pages.

The rediscovered Google Sites meeting schedule adds another part of the record. It shows that Dumaguete AA meeting information was also published through a simple Google Sites page using an embedded calendar or spreadsheet-style schedule, with a preserved “2015 Meeting Schedule” subpage confirmed by archival internet data.

The later DumagueteInfo reference from July 2022 is especially important. It shows that the Google Sites meeting schedule was still remembered and publicly recommended years after its original 2015 schedule page.

That does not prove the full beginning of AA in Dumaguete. It does show that public local meeting information has been part of the recovery landscape here for more than a decade.

A Decade of Continuity

The history preserved here is not a straight line. Meetings moved. Venues changed. Old pages disappeared. New pages were built. Public references survived in different places.

The useful part is the continuity.

Records from 2013 document meeting activity in Dumaguete City and Valencia. Records from 2014 show venue changes and additional Negros Oriental meeting references. Records from 2015 show public online meeting information, including DumagueteAA.org pages and the separate Google Sites meeting schedule resource.

In 2016, Dumaguete hosted the 34th Philippines AA National Convention at Bethel Guest House. Historical records from that period show the site operating as more than a meeting list. It carried convention information, meeting updates, contact resources, literature references, and community links.

Later archival internet data and a July 2022 DumagueteInfo discussion show that older Dumaguete AA information continued to matter years after the original pages were created. The Google Sites schedule did not disappear from local memory when newer resources appeared. People were still pointing others toward it when asked where to find AA meetings in Dumaguete.

The rooms changed. The need did not.

The Meeting Venues Tell Part of the Story

One of the most interesting parts of the historical record is how many different kinds of venues appear over time.

The records include cafés, churches, guest houses, public spaces, restaurants, beach locations, a provincial jail outreach reference, and convention venues. That variety says something about local AA history in Dumaguete and Negros Oriental.

Meetings were not tied to one permanent room. They appeared in the places that were available: Café Antonio, 2nd Floor Cafe Rene, Our Mother of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church, Bethel Guest House, Blue Monkey Bar & Grill, Rizal Boulevard park references, Naspri Restaurant in Valencia, UCCP Church in Siaton, and later Dauin and Bacong references.

Some locations were central and easy to recognize. Some were temporary. Some were tied to convention activity. Some show the meeting footprint moving outside central Dumaguete into nearby areas.

Old venue references should not be treated as current meeting information. Their value here is historical. They show how local meetings found rooms, moved when needed, and stayed visible.

The Geography of Local Recovery

This history is not limited to one room in Dumaguete City.

The records preserved on this page and in the broader history project include references connected to Dumaguete City, Valencia, Siaton, Dauin, Bacong, and Talay. Some of those records are older meeting-directory listings. Some are public discussion or review references. Some are historical page records from DumagueteAA.org.

That wider geography matters. People looking for help do not always live near Rizal Boulevard. Visitors may be staying in Valencia, Dauin, Bacong, or another nearby area. Members may travel between towns. Meetings may move with the practical realities of rooms, transportation, rent, venue availability, and local support.

The historical record shows a local recovery footprint that reached beyond a single address.

The Questions Have Stayed the Same

The older pages show that people were already asking practical questions in 2015.

2013–2016 — Service, Outreach, and Recovery Community Evidence

Date range: September 2013 through July 2016

Overview: Most surviving historical records connected with Dumaguete AA focus on meeting schedules, newcomer information, meeting locations, and convention activity. However, archived schedules, business records, announcements, regional meeting directories, and first-hand participant accounts also preserve evidence of institutional service work, outreach efforts, support for meetings outside Dumaguete City, and interaction with the broader recovery community of Negros Oriental and the Central Visayas.

This section serves two purposes. First, it preserves verified historical evidence as part of the Dumaguete AA historical record. Second, it functions as a research baseline so future investigations can build upon documented facts rather than repeating earlier archive work.

Provincial Jail Outreach Program

The Provincial Jail outreach program is one of the most significant documented service activities currently identified within the surviving Dumaguete AA historical record. Archived schedules, business records, and first-hand participant evidence establish a multi-year pattern of institutional outreach activity inside the Negros Oriental Provincial Jail.

Schedule References and First-Hand Evidence

September 29, 2013 — Earliest identified schedule reference.
Archived regional meeting schedules included a meeting associated with the Negros Oriental Provincial Jail. The listing placed the meeting in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, described the location as in front of the LTO Office and beside Lamberto Macias Sports Complex, and included it within the regional AA meeting schedule.

January 27, 2014; January 28, 2014; February 27, 2014; April 7, 2014; May 9, 2014 — Continuing schedule references.
Provincial Jail meeting references continued to appear in archived regional schedules during the first half of 2014, confirming continuing institutional outreach activity during this period.

June 2014 — First-hand participant evidence.
A first-hand participant account confirms that the Provincial Jail meeting operated as a closed AA meeting inside the Negros Oriental Provincial Jail. The meeting started at 9:00 AM every Monday morning. Approximately 30 inmates attended. The meeting was chaired by a Bisayan-speaking inmate, followed an AA meeting format, and used AA literature. Attendance from outside the facility normally consisted of one or two members from the Dumaguete AA fellowship participating as part of the outreach effort.

June 2014 — Meeting support and operation.
A first-hand participant account confirms that the Provincial Jail meeting was supported through 7th Tradition funds from the Dumaguete AA fellowship meeting at Bethel Guest House. Bread and packets of Kopiko coffee were purchased before the meeting and brought into the facility. An inmate volunteer received the bread and coffee, prepared hot coffee in a thermos, and distributed bread before the meeting. Participants entering the jail were searched and processed through jail security procedures, including hand-stamp entry processing, before being allowed to attend.

June 20, 2014 — Closed Outreach Program listing.
The Provincial Jail meeting appeared in archived schedules as a “Closed Outreach Program” with instructions directing interested members to contact the program coordinator. This schedule wording matches the first-hand account that the meeting was held inside the jail, attended by inmates, and supported by one or two Dumaguete AA members rather than operating as a public meeting.

July 21, 2014; August 17, 2014; August 22, 2014; October 20, 2014 — Closed Outreach Program continues.
Archived schedules continued to list the Provincial Jail meeting as a Closed Outreach Program rather than a public meeting.

2015 Program Support, Convention Planning, and Corrections-Service Guidance

July 13, 2015 — Regular outreach meeting confirmed in DumagueteAA.org record.
A surviving Dumaguete AA record stated that “we have a regular outreach meeting at the Dumaguete jail on Tuesday mornings” and discussed the possibility of holding a special convention meeting at the correctional facility during the 2016 convention weekend, subject to warden approval.

July 24, 2015 — Convention-surplus discussion references jail outreach program.
Private correspondence regarding planning for the upcoming 2016 Philippines National Convention discussed possible use of any convention surplus funds. One proposal suggested using excess funds to support local Dumaguete AA activities, including the Provincial Jail outreach program. The correspondence described the jail program as an existing activity and questioned whether the program would continue to struggle without additional organizational support.

Historical significance:
This is currently the strongest identified evidence that the Provincial Jail outreach program was considered a significant local service activity and was being discussed in connection with future financial support and long-term sustainability.

The correspondence documents discussion only. It does not establish that convention surplus funds existed, that funding was approved, or that funds were ultimately allocated to the jail program.

July 27, 2015 — Corrections-service guidance sought.
Correspondence seeking guidance regarding convention funds and local service activity resulted in references to AA experience with corrections work, institutional service, and carrying the message into jails and prisons. The response discussed corrections committees, institutional literature support, self-support principles, convention guidance, and service structures commonly used elsewhere in Alcoholics Anonymous.

Historical significance:
This correspondence demonstrates that local discussion surrounding the Provincial Jail outreach program extended beyond meeting administration and included consultation regarding AA service experience, traditions, corrections work, institutional outreach, and appropriate use of AA funds.

The correspondence discusses AA experience and service guidance. It does not establish that any specific corrections committee, service structure, or funding arrangement was created in Dumaguete.

August 8, 2015 — Program support discussion documented.
Business records discussed the Provincial Jail outreach program, including budget support, member participation, and meetings conducted within the facility. The same record referenced “that weekly meeting run by the inmates,” matching the first-hand account of inmate leadership inside the jail meeting.

August 11, 2015 — Closed Outreach Program still listed.
Archived regional schedules continued to list the Provincial Jail as a Closed Outreach Program in the Dumaguete-area meeting schedule.

2016 Convention Planning and Latest Identified Schedule Reference

January 17, 2016 — Provincial Jail convention meeting planned.
Convention planning correspondence for the 34th Philippines National Convention included a scheduled AA meeting at the Negros Oriental Provincial Jail. The proposed meeting was listed for Saturday from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM and required special registration signup. The jail was identified as being across from the LTO office.

This entry provides stronger evidence than the earlier July 2015 discussion regarding a possible convention-related jail meeting. It demonstrates that a Provincial Jail meeting had progressed from proposal stage to inclusion within convention planning documents distributed before the convention.

July 16, 2016 — Latest identified schedule reference in current baseline.
Archived regional schedules from July 16, 2016 continued to list the Provincial Jail as a Closed Outreach Program, showing that the jail outreach reference remained visible in regional meeting information into 2016.

Provincial Jail Outreach Historical Significance, Evidence Boundary, and Research Targets

Historical significance:
These records establish documented evidence of institutional-service activity associated with Dumaguete-area AA members. Archived records demonstrate that AA activity extended beyond Dumaguete City and included meetings elsewhere in Negros Oriental. The strongest currently identified evidence relates to Siaton.

May 9, 2014 — Earliest identified Siaton reference.
Regional schedules listed the Siaton Seaside Beginners Open Meeting. The meeting was identified as an English and Visayan-speaking meeting located at Erlinda’s on the National Highway at K 56.2 in Siaton, approximately 50 kilometers below Dumaguete. The listing included instructions for driving directions, rides from the Siaton Ceres Bus Terminal, and local contact details.

June 20, 2014; July 21, 2014 — Continued Siaton listings.
Archived schedules continued to include the Siaton Seaside Beginners Open Meeting, confirming continuing regional meeting activity outside Dumaguete City.

August 17, 2014; August 22, 2014; October 20, 2014 — Siaton-area meeting still listed.
Archived schedules continued to include a Siaton-area beginners meeting. The listing appears in this period as “Acetone Seaside Beginners-Open meeting” at Erlinda’s on the National Highway at K 56.2 in Siaton. This spelling should be preserved as a historical record while future research determines whether it reflects a renamed meeting, a transcription issue, or a separate listing.

August 11, 2015 — Steps On the Beach meeting listed in Siaton.
Regional schedules listed “Steps On the Beach,” an Open Literature Study Meeting in English and Visayan at UCCP Church in Siaton City, near the northeast corner of the public market.

August 8, 2015 — Support discussion documented.
Business records referenced support for surrounding meetings and consideration for the Siaton weekly meeting, with a list of needs anticipated.

July 16, 2016 — Siaton meeting still listed.
Archived regional schedules continued to list “Steps On the Beach” at UCCP Church in Siaton City.

2015 Visayas Unity Weekend Evidence

July 3, 2015 — Visayas Unity Weekend VII event graphic identified.
A preserved event graphic announced Visayas Unity Weekend VII in Dumaguete City scheduled for July 17–19, 2015. The graphic identified the event theme as “WORKING IT, WORKS” and included a detailed agenda covering registration, workshops, topic meetings, a Town Hall Meeting, an ASC election session, a Candle Light Meeting, a Countdown event, and closing activities.

Evidence type:
Event graphic and published agenda.

Historical significance:
This is currently the earliest identified record connected to the 2015 Visayas Unity Weekend. The agenda demonstrates that the event was a structured multi-day recovery gathering with scheduled meetings, workshops, fellowship activities, and service-related sessions. It also provides additional evidence that recovery-community events were being organized and promoted in Dumaguete during 2015.

July 10, 2015 — Website publication planning and event information forwarded for website inclusion.
Correspondence preserved from July 10, 2015 shows event graphics for the upcoming Visayas Unity Weekend being circulated prior to the event and being provided for possible inclusion on DumagueteAA.org. A reply stated, “I’ll include the NA info on the website.” In response to receiving the graphic, a reply also stated, “Thanks Reza. I’ll include the NA info on the website.” These records document plans to publish information about the gathering through DumagueteAA.org and show that information about the upcoming Visayas Unity Weekend was being shared with DumagueteAA.org before the event.

July 17–19, 2015 — Philippines Narcotics Anonymous Visayas Unity Weekend.
A historical Dumaguete AA announcement referenced the Philippines Narcotics Anonymous Visayas Unity Weekend held July 17–19, 2015 at Hotel Essencia in Dumaguete City. The announcement identified the theme as “Working It Works” and gave Hotel Essencia on Real Street as the location.

Historical significance:
This provides documented evidence that Narcotics Anonymous activity was publicly visible in Dumaguete during 2015 and forms part of the broader recovery-community history of the area. Event graphics, correspondence, and publication planning records show that information about the Visayas Unity Weekend was being circulated before the event and that DumagueteAA.org was used to distribute information about the gathering. This entry does not establish that Siaton, Talay, or any other specific AA meeting was an NA meeting, nor does it establish organizational affiliation between AA and NA.
