Update from the convention meeting.
The next meeting is Friday, June 19.
At our last meeting we had a few very good discussions about the upcoming 2016 Philippines AA National Convention in Dumaguete City.
We have volunteers.
We have volunteers. The convention plan that was shared on May 20 defined the volunteer opportunities available for the 2016 convention. We will make assignments this week. And a big thank you to everyone who stepped up to do their part.
We have a venue, now let’s focus on the program.
We agreed that the venue committee would look to confirm with the venue manager the program of events for 2016. The program of events will offer meals every evening. One option being promoted is to have one large banquet on Saturday night; however, the venue committee, working with the program committee, will have options available for discussion this week.
We have a new volunteer for Merchandise.
Thank you to the member who volunteered to help with convention merchandise. This is a big job. The merchandise committee works with the convention’s graphic artist to get estimates and manage the purchasing of mugs, tee-shirts, key-chains, and other souvenirs for the convention.
We have a convention bank account.
All the funds collected from registration, merchandise, and contributions is now in a bank account and managed by the Treasurer and Co-Treasurer. Please remember to bring all convention money to the next meeting so the Co-Treasurer can make a deposit. Once we have all the money in the bank account we can expect routine reporting of how the money is used.

It’s going to be a short meeting.
Since we haven’t met in a few weeks let’s get progress on the venue details because we would like to send information to other groups.
I’d like to propose that we walk through the 2016 Philippines AA National Convention Plan next meeting because a lot of people will be out of town or on holiday routine.

Updates from the Convention Meeting.
The 2016 Philippines AA National Convention is in Dumaguete City. Join us February 5, 6, and 7 to celebrate 34 years of Alcoholics Anonymous in the Philippines.
2016’s Philippines AA convention theme is “Just for Today”.
By overwhelming majority the group voted 2016’s Convention theme to be “Just for Today”. It was close for a while, but online votes, and some change of votes during the meeting, pushed “Just for Today” over the top.
We have a new Treasurer and Co-Treasurer for the convention.
Out of nowhere the current Treasurer nominated his replacement and by popular decision we have a new convention Treasurer. Thank you for volunteering and making today’s meeting a thrill.
We have a plan. And a plan to review it on June 12.
We posted the 2016 Philippines AA National Convention Plan online May 20. We still need to review at the next meeting in June, but everyone seemed satisfied with the basic outline.
Next convention meeting is June 12, 2015.
We also agreed that we would not have convention meetings that conflict with the regular business and anniversary meetings on the first and last Fridays of the month. So the next convention meeting is Friday June 12.
Let’s continue the great work.
Just because we don’t meet until June 12 it doesn’t mean progress has to stop. No one person can do it alone. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to work on their part.

Next 2016 Philippines AA Convention meeting is Friday, July 10.
Good morning convention team,
Last night we continued working through convention planning details. The convention is moving forward and the work is becoming more practical. We discussed registration, program planning, food, local arrangements, and volunteer assignments.
There is still a lot to do, but the important part is that the pieces are beginning to come together. Each meeting helps clarify what needs to happen next.
2016 AA convention plan is working.
The plan is not perfect, and it will keep changing as new information becomes available. But having a written plan gives us something to review, correct, and improve. That is better than trying to remember everything from meeting to meeting.
Next meeting is Friday, July 10.
Please make plans now if you are part of a committee or have information to report. The sooner information is shared, the easier it is for the group to make decisions.
Updates from the Convention Meeting.
Next convention meeting is Friday, July 31.
Several items were discussed at the latest convention meeting. The focus continues to be on getting the venue, program, registration, and committee work organized in enough time for the February 2016 convention.
Dumaguete has its 2016 Philippines AA National Convention.
The convention is scheduled for February 5, 6, and 7, 2016 at Bethel Guest House in Dumaguete City. This was important local news for AA in Dumaguete and for visitors planning to attend from other areas.
Meeting reports, committee notes, volunteer updates, and convention planning details were posted on the site so people could follow the progress and stay informed.
